Responsibilities
- Oversee the calculation, verification, and disbursement of pension benefits for state employees.
- Analyze complex payroll data and contribution records to ensure accuracy in retirement projections.
- Respond to inquiries from active members and retirees regarding eligibility, vesting, and benefit calculations.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with state and federal retirement regulations.
- Collaborate with the HR and Finance departments to update employee demographic and contribution records.
- Prepare and maintain detailed reports on pension fund status and member activity.
- Assist in the development of retirement education materials for new state hires.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Public Administration, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll administration, pension management, or a related financial role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically advanced Excel functions (VLOOKUP, PivotTables, Macros).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with the public.
- Knowledge of state government personnel systems and retirement laws is highly preferred.
