Responsibilities
- Administer state pension plans including eligibility calculations, benefit distributions, and record maintenance
- Ensure compliance with federal ERISA regulations, NC state statutes, and GASB standards
- Conduct pension audits and financial reporting for 15,000+ active participants
- Develop retirement education programs and provide benefit counseling to state employees
- Collaborate with investment teams to monitor portfolio performance and risk mitigation
- Manage vendor relationships and technology systems for pension administration
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension administration or benefits management experience
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, 401(a) regulations, and state pension laws
- Advanced proficiency in pension software (e.g., Millennium, Empower)
- Certified Public Pension Administrator (CPPA) or SHRM-CP preferred
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to detail and numerical accuracy
