We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pension Plan Administrator to join the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation. This is a unique opportunity to serve the state's workforce in managing critical retirement benefits. While based in Chicago, this position offers a hybrid work model with a primary focus on our Weekend Operations Team to ensure continuous service for public employees.
As a key member of our Finance division, you will oversee the administration of state pension plans, ensuring accuracy in member records and compliance with federal and state regulations.
Responsibilities
- Manage and process weekly pension contribution payments and disbursements for state retirees.
- Conduct regular audits of pension data and member accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with ERISA regulations.
- Respond to member inquiries regarding benefit calculations, eligibility, and status updates during weekend shifts.
- Collaborate with the HR and Payroll teams to resolve discrepancies in retirement records.
- Prepare and maintain detailed reports on weekend activity, fund balances, and compliance metrics.
- Ensure all documentation meets strict government standards and privacy protocols.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in pension administration, retirement benefits, or government payroll processing.
- Strong working knowledge of ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) and state pension laws.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP) and advanced database management systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to handle sensitive financial data with absolute confidentiality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
