Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and process all incoming pension and retirement benefit requests, ensuring strict adherence to eligibility requirements.
- Perform complex calculations for retirement payouts, including service credit, salary averaging, and survivor benefits.
- Act as the primary liaison for retirees and employees regarding plan changes, inquiries, and benefit statements.
- Ensure full compliance with ERISA regulations, state labor laws, and internal government policies.
- Manage and maintain accurate, confidential records within the HRIS and pension databases.
- Collaborate with the Finance Department to reconcile pension accounts and prepare accurate monthly and annual reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in pension administration, benefits administration, or government human resources.
- Strong working knowledge of ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) and Nebraska state retirement statutes.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) and experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., SAP, Workday, Oracle).
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive financial data with the highest level of confidentiality.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
