Responsibilities
- Manage pension plan administration including benefit calculations, enrollment, and retirement processing
- Ensure compliance with Illinois Pension Code and federal regulations
- Respond to complex beneficiary inquiries via phone, email, and in-person appointments
- Maintain accurate pension records using state financial systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on policy updates and process improvements
- Conduct periodic audits and reconciliations of pension accounts
- Prepare detailed reports for stakeholders and regulatory bodies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension administration or benefits management experience
- Strong knowledge of retirement plan regulations (ERISA, IRS codes)
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP, PeopleSoft) and MS Office Suite
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage confidential information
- Experience with weekend or non-traditional work schedules preferred
