Responsibilities
- Administer and optimize county pension plans ensuring compliance with federal/state regulations
- Process retirement applications, calculate benefits, and resolve complex pension inquiries
- Develop financial projections and actuarial reports for long-term fund sustainability
- Collaborate with HR departments to design retirement education programs
- Conduct audits of pension accounts and implement corrective actions
- Manage stakeholder communications including retirees, employees, and union representatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 3+ years of pension plan administration or retirement benefits experience
- Proficiency with pension management software (e.g., Millennium, Milliman)
- Strong understanding of ERISA, IRS 401(k) regulations, and California PERS guidelines
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Certified Public Pension Administrator (CPPA) designation
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to financial detail
