Responsibilities
- Administer pension plans including benefit calculations, distributions, and record maintenance
- Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations (ERISA, IRS, CalPERS) and internal policies
- Provide expert guidance to employees and retirees regarding retirement benefits
- Collaborate with auditors and legal teams during annual reviews and investigations
- Manage pension fund investments and actuarial reporting
- Develop educational materials for pre-retirement seminars
- Utilize specialized pension software for data analysis and reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension plan administration experience in government sector
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(k)/403(b) regulations, and CalPERS policies
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and pension administration software (e.g., Parnassus, Milliman)
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Certified Public Pension Administrator (CPPA) or similar designation preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in remote environment
- Clear communication skills for complex benefit explanations
