Responsibilities
- Administer and monitor state pension plans ensuring compliance with ERISA and NC state regulations
- Process retirement applications, calculate benefits, and maintain accurate participant records
- Conduct financial analysis to ensure pension fund solvency and actuarial accuracy
- Provide weekend-shift customer service via phone, email, and in-person consultations
- Prepare regulatory reports and quarterly financial statements for state oversight bodies
- Collaborate with investment teams to align portfolio strategies with pension obligations
- Train state employees on retirement planning and pension program features
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension administration or retirement benefits experience
- Certified Public Pension Administrator (CPPA) designation preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and pension management software (e.g., Millennium)
- Deep understanding of multi-employer pension plans and fiduciary responsibilities
- Exceptional problem-solving skills for complex retirement scenarios
- Ability to work independently during weekend shifts with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills for communicating technical concepts to diverse audiences
