Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily administration of the county pension plan, ensuring accurate processing of member enrollments, contributions, and benefit calculations.
- Conduct thorough reviews of pension applications and retirement requests to ensure full compliance with state and federal regulations (e.g., ERISA, FERS).
- Act as the primary point of contact for retirees and active employees regarding benefit inquiries, providing clear and compassionate customer service.
- Collaborate with the finance and actuarial departments to prepare annual valuation reports and funding status updates.
- Maintain and audit comprehensive records of all pension transactions and member data within the secure HRIS system.
- Identify process improvement opportunities to streamline pension workflows and enhance member satisfaction.
- Participate in training sessions to stay updated on changes in pension laws and organizational policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in government pension administration, HR, or financial services.
- Strong working knowledge of state retirement systems and federal pension compliance standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with specialized pension software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is highly preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
- Certified Pension Professional (CPP) or equivalent designation is a plus.
