Responsibilities
- Manage pension plan administration including benefit calculations, eligibility verifications, and participant communications
- Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations (ERISA, IRS codes) and municipal policies
- Analyze financial data to forecast funding requirements and recommend plan adjustments
- Develop educational materials and conduct workshops for retirees and current employees
- Collaborate with auditors, legal counsel, and investment committees for plan optimization
- Maintain accurate participant records using pension management software
- Lead special projects for pension plan enhancements or legislative updates
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of pension plan administration or benefits management experience
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a)/403(b) regulations, and municipal pension structures
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, SQL, and pension management systems (e.g., Millennium, Northstar)
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data and legal documents
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Society of Actuaries (SOA) designation preferred
- Exceptional communication skills for stakeholder engagement across diverse audiences
- Proven track record of managing pension audits and compliance reviews
