We seek a detail-oriented professional to manage pension plan operations, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. This hybrid role (20-25 hours/week) provides flexibility while allowing you to make a meaningful impact on North Carolina's retirement systems.
Responsibilities
- Administer pension plan enrollment, distributions, and record maintenance
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and NC state statutes
- Respond to participant inquiries regarding retirement benefits and plan provisions
- Prepare monthly reports and reconcile pension fund transactions
- Collaborate with financial analysts on investment strategy reviews
- Assist in annual plan audits and regulatory filings
- Train new employees on pension plan procedures and benefits
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension plan administration or benefits management experience
- Proficiency with pension software (e.g., Millennium, NCPERS)
- Strong understanding of retirement plan regulations (ERISA, IRS 401/403/457)
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage confidential data with discretion
- Valid North Carolina driver's license (if required for travel)
