Responsibilities
- Administer state pension plans including contribution calculations, benefit distributions, and participant records
- Ensure compliance with federal/state pension regulations and annual reporting requirements
- Provide retirement counseling to state employees regarding pension options and investment strategies
- Collaborate with finance teams on fund valuation, actuarial studies, and risk management
- Develop educational materials for participants on retirement planning and pension benefits
- Manage pension fund databases and maintain accurate participant records
- Conduct audits of pension operations and recommend process improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension administration or retirement plan experience
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(k) regulations, and California pension laws
- Advanced proficiency in pension management software (e.g., Millennium, Empower)
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or similar designation preferred
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Strong written/verbal communication skills for participant education
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in remote setting
