Responsibilities
- Manage and administer city pension plans including enrollment, benefit calculations, and compliance with ERISA and Texas state regulations
- Process retirement applications, conduct eligibility verifications, and maintain accurate participant records
- Provide exceptional weekend customer service to retirees and active employees via phone, email, and in-person appointments
- Prepare monthly/quarterly reports on plan assets, funding status, and demographic trends for leadership review
- Collaborate with auditors during annual compliance reviews and regulatory examinations
- Develop educational materials and conduct weekend workshops on retirement planning and benefits
- Monitor legislative changes and implement policy updates affecting pension administration
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 3+ years of pension plan administration experience, preferably in government or public sector
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, IRS regulations, and Texas pension laws
- Proficiency with pension software (e.g., Millennium, Empower) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data and actuarial reports
- Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Ability to work independently during weekend shifts while maintaining high service standards
- Professional certifications (e.g., CEBS, QKA) highly desirable
