Responsibilities

  • Receive and accurately process emergency and non-emergency calls via 911 and phone lines.
  • Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incident scenes using computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
  • Maintain constant communication with field units via radio, providing updates and situational awareness.
  • Enter and update incident reports, logs, and records in the departmental database with precision and speed.
  • Provide information and assistance to the public, including directions and non-emergency resource referrals.
  • Monitor surveillance equipment and security feeds to detect potential threats or emergencies.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and jurisdictions during multi-agency responses.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED certification required.
  • Must possess a valid California Class C Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to type at least 35-40 words per minute (wpm) with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong decision-making skills under pressure and the ability to remain calm in crisis situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be willing to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
