Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, gather critical information, and dispatch appropriate resources
- Operate radio systems, CAD software, and emergency notification equipment
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers during medical or crisis situations
- Maintain detailed logs and documentation of all communications
- Coordinate with law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies during incidents
- Remain calm under pressure while processing high-volume calls
- Complete state-mandated dispatcher training certification program
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum 18 years of age at time of appointment
- Ability to pass criminal background check and drug screening
- Strong typing skills (minimum 40 WPM) and computer proficiency
- Excellent communication and active listening abilities
- Ability to multitask and make sound decisions under stress
- Valid Minnesota driver's license
