Police Dispatcher Trainee

As a Dispatcher Trainee, you will undergo rigorous training to become a vital member of our Communications Center. You will manage incoming calls, dispatch emergency units, and provide critical information to first responders. What You Will Do:

We are looking for individuals who can thrive in a high-pressure environment. Key duties include:

• Receive and process emergency (911) and non-emergency calls efficiently.
• Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incident scenes.
• Monitor and operate Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems and radio channels.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of calls and officer activity.
• Provide vital information to citizens and first responders to ensure officer and citizen safety.
• Assist in the training of incoming personnel on departmental procedures.

Qualifications:

We require candidates who are dedicated to public service and possess the necessary skills to handle the demands of the job:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to obtain a Virginia Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) card.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong typing skills (minimum 35-40 WPM).
• Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Clear background check and no disqualifying criminal history.
