Responsibilities
- Answer and process emergency/non-emergency calls for police, fire, and medical services
- Operate radio systems to dispatch appropriate units to emergency scenes
- Enter and update information in Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers during critical incidents
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation of all communications
- Coordinate with multiple agencies during complex emergency situations
- Adhere to all department policies and confidentiality protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Ability to type 40+ words per minute
- Strong communication and multitasking skills
- Ability to remain calm under high-pressure situations
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn new systems
- Must pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
