Responsibilities
- Operate advanced dispatch equipment to receive and relay emergency calls
- Coordinate with police, fire, and EMS units during critical incidents
- Maintain accurate records of all communications in RMS systems
- Provide clear, calm instructions to callers during emergencies
- Utilize CAD software for real-time resource deployment
- Adhere to NIMS protocols and departmental procedures
- Assist in training new dispatch personnel upon certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Tennessee driver's license
- Ability to pass criminal background check and polygraph exam
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with 95% accuracy
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- U.S. citizenship and residency in Shelby County
- Must pass pre-employment medical and psychological evaluations
