Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via phone, radio, and digital systems
- Dispatch police, fire, and medical units with precise location and incident details
- Operate Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) and radio equipment under supervision
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation
- Provide critical information to field units and coordinate multi-agency responses
- Remain calm during high-stress situations and make rapid decisions
- Complete all required training modules and certification requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- U.S. citizenship and valid Kansas driver's license
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and psychological evaluation
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal/written) and active listening ability
- Basic computer proficiency and typing speed of 40+ WPM
- Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
- No felony convictions and clean driving record
- Commitment to completing 6-12 week paid training program
