Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via phone, radio, and digital systems
- Dispatch police officers, fire, and EMS units using provided communication equipment
- Enter and maintain accurate incident data in CAD/RMS systems
- Provide critical information to field units and coordinate multi-agency responses
- Remain calm and professional during high-stress emergency situations
- Operate radio consoles, telephones, and computer-aided dispatch tools
- Document all communications and actions according to department protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- U.S. citizenship and valid Texas driver's license
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and drug screening
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (verified typing test required)
- Fluency in English and Spanish (bilingual preferred)
- Ability to obtain TCLEOSC certification within 12 months
- No felony convictions or domestic violence charges
- Must be at least 18 years old and pass physical/psychological evaluations
