Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via phone, radio, and digital systems
- Dispatch police units using CAD software and maintain accurate call logs
- Provide critical information to officers during field operations
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during emergencies
- Maintain calm demeanor under pressure while handling crisis situations
- Operate radio equipment and communication systems per protocol
- Assist in training new dispatchers after certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- U.S. citizenship and valid Texas driver's license
- Pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Ability to type 35+ WPM with 95% accuracy
- Clear speaking voice and excellent communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn specialized software
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- No felony convictions and clean driving record
