Responsibilities
- Receive, prioritize, and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and EMS services
- Operate multi-line telephone systems, radio equipment, and CAD software with precision
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation following NENA protocols
- Provide critical instructions to callers during emergencies until responders arrive
- Coordinate with other agencies and maintain situational awareness during active incidents
- Participate in ongoing training to enhance dispatching skills and emergency response knowledge
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in criminal justice preferred
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during high-stress situations
- Exceptional communication skills with clear articulation and active listening
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn specialized dispatch software
- Must pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- No felony convictions and clean driving record
