Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, assess situations, and dispatch appropriate resources
- Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and radio communication equipment
- Provide pre-arrival medical instructions via phone during emergencies
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation of all communications
- Coordinate with multiple agencies (fire, EMS, law enforcement) during critical incidents
- Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols and HIPAA regulations
- Participate in ongoing training programs to enhance operational skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- US citizenship and valid Virginia driver's license
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Excellent communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Basic computer proficiency with ability to learn specialized software
- Ability to multitask in high-stress environments
- No felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving dishonesty
- Must be 18 years or older at time of hire
