Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems
- Dispatch police officers, fire, and EMS resources with precision and urgency
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and incidents
- Provide life-saving instructions via phone during critical incidents
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during complex emergencies
- Operate radio systems and specialized communication equipment
- Remain calm and professional under high-stress situations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- No criminal convictions (felony or misdemeanor domestic violence)
- Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in fast-paced environments
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn specialized software
- Must be 18+ years old and possess valid NC driver's license
