Responsibilities
- Receive, prioritize, and dispatch emergency/non-emergency calls for police, fire, and EMS services
- Operate multi-channel radio systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Provide critical pre-arrival instructions to callers during medical emergencies
- Maintain accurate logs of all communications and incident details
- Coordinate resources during critical incidents and multi-agency responses
- Remain calm and professional during high-stress emergency situations
- Complete all required training modules to achieve full dispatcher certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must pass comprehensive background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Ability to type 35+ WPM with high accuracy
- Strong active listening and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and make critical decisions under pressure
- No criminal record (felony convictions disqualify)
- Alaska residency required within 30 days of hire
- Must be available for rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
