Responsibilities
- Master emergency call handling protocols and prioritize incoming requests
- Operate radio systems to coordinate police, fire, and EMS responses
- Enter and update critical information in CAD/RMS systems with precision
- Provide clear, concise instructions to callers during emergencies
- Train in multi-agency coordination during crisis situations
- Learn departmental policies and legal compliance requirements
- Develop proficiency in de-escalation techniques for high-stress interactions
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum 18 years of age at time of hire
- Clear criminal background and driving record
- Ability to pass typing test (40+ WPM) and basic computer literacy assessment
- Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills
- Strong emotional stability and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Must be available for rotating shifts (nights, weekends, holidays)
- Willingness to complete 6-8 week paid training program
