Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls with accuracy and compassion
- Operate radio equipment to dispatch police, fire, and medical units
- Maintain detailed logs and records of all communications
- Utilize CAD systems to track unit locations and incident statuses
- Provide critical information to first responders during emergencies
- Remain calm and professional during high-stress situations
- Complete mandatory training programs to qualify for full dispatcher certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must be 18 years or older at time of appointment
- Ability to type 40+ words per minute (test required)
- Clear speaking voice with excellent communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in fast-paced environments
- U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work
- Pass background check and drug screening
- No felony convictions
