Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls via 911 and non-emergency lines with accuracy and empathy
- Dispatch police units using CAD systems and radio communication protocols
- Monitor multiple channels simultaneously during critical incidents
- Enter and update incident data in real-time within law enforcement databases
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers during medical or crisis situations
- Coordinate with other agencies (fire, EMS) for multi-jurisdictional responses
- Maintain detailed call logs and documentation per department standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- US citizenship or legal resident status
- Valid Oregon Driver's License
- Ability to pass background check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with 90% accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn specialized software
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Clear speaking voice with strong diction and comprehension skills
