Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch police, fire, and EMS units using CAD systems with precision and urgency
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation in real-time
- Provide clear, calm instructions to callers during critical situations
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during large-scale incidents
- Operate radio equipment and communication systems per department protocols
- Assist with training new dispatchers after certification completion
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required (college coursework preferred)
- Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with 95% accuracy
- Valid Ohio driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work rotating shifts (nights, weekends, holidays)
- Strong multitasking and de-escalation skills
- Proficiency in computer systems and quick decision-making
- U.S. citizenship and residency in Ohio
