Responsibilities
- Answer emergency/non-emergency calls and dispatch appropriate police units
- Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and radio communications
- Provide critical instructions to callers during emergencies
- Maintain detailed records of all calls and dispatch activities
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during critical incidents
- Remain composed under pressure while making rapid decisions
- Collaborate with officers and other dispatchers seamlessly
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Pass background check and drug screening
- Strong verbal/written communication skills
- Ability to type 35+ WPM accurately
- Basic computer literacy
- Ability to multitask in high-stress environments
- No experience required—training provided
