Responsibilities
- Answer and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls using CAD/RMS systems
- Dispatch police units and maintain real-time communication during incidents
- Operate radio equipment and computer-aided dispatch systems
- Enter and maintain accurate case data and incident reports
- Coordinate with other agencies (EMS, Fire) during multi-jurisdictional events
- Remain calm under pressure during critical incidents
- Complete state-mandated dispatcher certification training
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- U.S. citizenship and valid Florida driver's license
- Ability to type 40+ WPM with 90% accuracy
- Pass background check, drug screen, and psychological evaluation
- Basic computer literacy and multitasking ability
- Clear speaking voice and exceptional communication skills
- No felony convictions or domestic violence restraining orders
- Must complete state-mandated dispatcher training program
