Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls with precision and empathy
- Dispatch police units using CAD/RMS systems during critical incidents
- Maintain accurate radio communication protocols and incident documentation
- Provide life-saving instructions via Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD)
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during complex emergencies
- Operate 911 systems and related communication technologies
- Adhere to strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- U.S. citizenship and valid California driver's license
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (verified assessment required)
- Ability to pass comprehensive background investigation and polygraph
- Clear speaking voice and exceptional multi-tasking ability
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history
- Must pass medical/psychological evaluations and drug screening
- Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn specialized systems
