Responsibilities
- Monitor and respond to incoming emergency and non-emergency calls via telephone and radio.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services units to active incidents.
- Enter detailed incident reports and status updates into the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Provide vital pre-arrival instructions to callers to ensure their safety until help arrives.
- Maintain constant situational awareness and coordinate resources during complex multi-unit responses.
- Assist senior dispatchers with training modules and process improvement initiatives.
- Handle high-volume call loads while maintaining a professional and calm demeanor.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver's license in good standing required.
- Ability to type a minimum of 35-40 words per minute accurately.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly over radio systems.
- Ability to remain composed and make quick decisions under high-pressure conditions.
- Must successfully pass a background investigation, medical examination, and drug screen.
