Responsibilities
- Receive and process incoming emergency and non-emergency calls with the highest level of accuracy and urgency.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services units to specific locations using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain accurate, detailed logs of all communications, calls for service, and incident reports.
- Monitor police department radio frequencies, CCTV cameras, and status boards to coordinate field operations.
- Provide vital information to officers in the field and assist the public with inquiries and directions.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation related to dispatch activities.
- Collaborate with other dispatch centers and emergency agencies during multi-agency incidents.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- A valid California Class C Driver's License and a clean driving record are mandatory.
- Ability to type at least 40 words per minute effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly over radio systems.
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and decisive under extreme stress or pressure.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to pass a background investigation, drug screen, and physical agility test.
