Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching appropriate police units and resources
- Operate multi-line telephone systems and radio equipment with precision
- Enter and maintain accurate data in computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems
- Remain calm and professional during high-stress emergency situations
- Provide clear, concise instructions to callers while gathering critical information
- Coordinate with other emergency services (fire, EMS) as needed
- Adhere to strict confidentiality policies and departmental protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Excellent communication and active listening skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in fast-paced environments
- Basic computer proficiency with willingness to learn specialized software
- Clear criminal background history and drug-free
- Strong problem-solving abilities and sound judgment
