Responsibilities
- Process 911 and non-emergency calls with calm precision and empathy
- Operate radio systems to dispatch police officers, fire, and medical units
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and incidents
- Utilize CAD systems for real-time tracking and resource allocation
- Coordinate with multiple agencies during critical incidents
- Provide life-saving instructions to callers during emergencies
- Complete mandatory training modules to achieve full dispatcher certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to pass thorough background check and drug screening
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (verified during assessment)
- Clear speaking voice with excellent communication skills
- Ability to remain calm under extreme pressure
- Basic computer proficiency and multi-tasking ability
- Valid California Driver's License (or obtain within 30 days)
