Responsibilities
- Process 911 emergency calls and non-emergency requests with speed and accuracy
- Dispatch police, fire, and medical units using computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems
- Maintain constant radio communication with field units during critical incidents
- Enter and update information in law enforcement databases and crime systems
- Provide pre-arrival medical instructions via phone when needed
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during large-scale emergencies
- Document all call activities and incident reports meticulously
- Operate multiple communication channels simultaneously under pressure
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- US citizenship or legal authorization to work
- Valid California driver's license (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM (verified by test)
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and drug screening
- Fluency in English (bilingual Spanish highly desirable)
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
