Responsibilities
- Receive, prioritize, and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and medical services
- Operate multi-line telephone systems, radio equipment, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation following department protocols
- Provide pre-arrival emergency medical instructions via phone during critical incidents
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during large-scale emergencies and natural disasters
- Remain calm and professional while handling high-stress, emotionally charged situations
- Continuously update and maintain real-time location tracking for all field units
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Minimum typing speed of 45 WPM with 90% accuracy
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Valid New Mexico driver's license with clean driving record
- Fluency in English (Spanish fluency highly desirable)
- Ability to multitask in high-pressure environments with minimal supervision
- No felony convictions and clean criminal history
- Must be 21 years of age at time of certification
