Responsibilities
- Process 911 and non-emergency calls with precision and empathy
- Dispatch police units and emergency services during critical incidents
- Maintain accurate radio logs and digital communication records
- Coordinate with multiple agencies (FDNY, EMS) during complex emergencies
- Utilize CAD systems for real-time incident tracking and resource allocation
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers in life-threatening situations
- Participate in ongoing training to master emergency protocols and technology
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)
- US citizenship and valid New York State driver's license
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with 95% accuracy
- Ability to pass background investigation and psychological evaluation
- Strong multi-tasking and decision-making abilities under pressure
- Clear communication skills in English (bilingual a plus)
- No felony convictions and clean driving record
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
