Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch appropriate police, fire, and EMS units to incident locations
- Maintain accurate real-time status of all field units and personnel
- Enter/update information in CAD and RMS systems with precision
- Provide critical information to first responders during emergencies
- Operate radio equipment and multi-line telephone systems
- Document all communications and activities in compliance with protocols
- Assist with training for new dispatch personnel
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must be 18+ years old and U.S. citizen
- Valid Texas driver's license (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Pass criminal background check and drug screening
- Ability to multitask in high-stress environments
- Clear communication skills (verbal/written)
- Basic computer proficiency with ability to learn specialized software
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (test required)
- Must complete all academy training requirements
