Responsibilities
- Answer and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls with professionalism and urgency
- Operate multi-line telephone systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Accurately relay critical information to officers, fire, and medical personnel
- Maintain detailed logs and records of all communications and incidents
- Remain calm and composed during high-stress crisis situations
- Provide life-saving instructions via emergency medical dispatch protocols
- Collaborate with other dispatchers and agency personnel during major incidents
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to pass background check, polygraph, and drug screening
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with 95% accuracy
- Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Valid Nebraska driver's license (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Excellent communication and multi-tasking abilities
- No felony convictions or domestic violence convictions
- Must be 18+ years old and a U.S. citizen
