Responsibilities
- Process emergency calls and dispatch appropriate police units
- Operate radio communication systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Maintain accurate records of all calls and activities
- Provide critical information to field units and other agencies
- Remain calm under pressure during high-stress emergency situations
- Monitor multiple channels simultaneously for incident coordination
- Assist in training new dispatchers after certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid California Driver's License
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM
- Ability to pass background investigation and psychological evaluation
- Clear speaking voice with excellent communication skills
- Basic computer literacy and technical aptitude
- US citizenship or legal resident status
- No felony convictions
