Responsibilities
- Manage emergency and non-emergency calls with exceptional composure and efficiency
- Dispatch police, fire, and medical units using computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation
- Operate radio equipment and multi-line telephone systems
- Provide crisis intervention and pre-arrival instructions to callers
- Collaborate with other dispatchers during major incidents
- Participate in continuous skills training and certification programs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
- Minimum 40 WPM typing speed with high accuracy
- Ability to remain calm under extreme pressure and make critical decisions
- Strong verbal communication skills with clear articulation
- U.S. citizenship with no felony convictions
- Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Basic computer proficiency and technical aptitude
- Valid Hawaii driver's license
