Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls for service from the public.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and EMS units to the correct locations using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Monitor radio communications and maintain accurate logs of all calls and dispatches.
- Provide essential information to the public regarding police services and non-emergency inquiries.
- Assist in the training and supervision of incoming dispatch trainees.
- Maintain situational awareness and make quick, accurate decisions under pressure.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Texas Driverβs License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and typing at a high speed.
- Ability to remain calm during high-stress situations and adapt to changing priorities.
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident status.
