As a Dispatcher Trainee, you will undergo specialized training to master the art of emergency communication. You will monitor radio frequencies, answer incoming calls, and dispatch officers, fire, and EMS units efficiently. Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls for service via telephone and radio.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical personnel to incident scenes.
- Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all calls, responses, and unit activities.
- Monitor status boards and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems for real-time updates.
- Provide information to callers, including status updates and safety instructions.
- Assist in training new dispatchers and maintaining departmental protocols.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Clean driving record and valid NJ Driver's License.
- Ability to type 35-40 WPM with high accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions under high-pressure situations.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
