Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency (911) and non-emergency calls with speed, accuracy, and compassion.
- Enter precise incident data into Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems and maintain detailed operational logs.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incidents based on caller needs and location data.
- Maintain constant, clear radio contact with field units to provide updates, instructions, and resource allocation.
- Monitor security cameras and surveillance feeds to identify and report suspicious activity or crimes in progress.
- Provide accurate directions and general information to the public via telephone.
- Assist in the quality assurance of dispatch procedures and mentor new dispatch personnel during training.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; college coursework in criminal justice or communications is preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
- Valid Class E Driver's License with a good driving record required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to type at least 35 WPM is highly preferred.
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and professional during high-stress, emergency situations.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, drug screen, and medical examination.
- Proficiency in navigating computer systems and performing data entry tasks rapidly.
