Responsibilities
- Monitor and Dispatch: Continuously monitor police radio frequencies and emergency communication lines to dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units efficiently.
- Emergency Response: Receive and process 911 calls, gathering critical information and relaying instructions to callers and responding officers.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, up-to-date logs of all incidents, calls, and unit movements in the CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) system.
- Information Relay: Provide vital information to responding officers, including suspect descriptions, vehicle locations, and scene hazards.
- Community Support: Assist in providing non-emergency information to the public and coordinate with other city agencies during large-scale events.
- Training: Complete required dispatcher training programs to achieve full certification as a Police Dispatcher.
Qualifications
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- License: Valid Class C Texas Driverβs License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to type proficiently.
- Criminal History: No felony convictions; background check required.
- Stability: Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal right to work in the United States.
