Responsibilities
- Receive, screen, and process incoming calls for service from the public and other agencies.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical units to incidents based on information received.
- Maintain continuous radio contact with field units and relay vital information.
- Enter accurate data into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and maintain detailed logs.
- Provide information and assistance to the public regarding police services, road closures, and status updates.
- Monitor surveillance equipment and CCTV feeds as assigned.
- Adhere to all departmental policies, procedures, and emergency response protocols.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Ability to type a minimum of 35-40 words per minute (typing test may be administered).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly over a radio.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress, emergency situations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must successfully pass a background investigation, drug screening, and medical examination.
