What You Will Do:
As a member of the Communications Center, you will be responsible for receiving and processing calls for service, dispatching personnel, and maintaining critical records. Your ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure will be essential to the safety of our community.
Responsibilities
- Receive, screen, and process emergency (911) and non-emergency calls for service.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical units to incidents utilizing computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs and records of all calls and activities.
- Communicate effectively with field personnel, supervisors, and the public via radio and telephone.
- Provide information, assistance, and resources to citizens in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Monitor security systems and surveillance equipment as directed.
- Assist in training new dispatchers and maintaining training records.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
- Valid California Class C Driverβs License and a satisfactory driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to speak clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency in computer systems, data entry, and 10-key typing (minimum 40 wpm).
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-stress, emergency situations.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
