Responsibilities

  • Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls for service with high accuracy and composure.
  • Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incidents using the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs of all incoming calls, incidents, and unit activity.
  • Communicate effectively and clearly with field personnel, officers, and citizens to provide vital information.
  • Monitor radio frequencies and CCTV systems to identify and respond to ongoing or developing situations.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and departmental policies during high-pressure situations.
  • Assist in the training of new dispatchers and mentor junior staff as you advance in your career.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Valid Kentucky Driver’s License with a good driving record.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, drug screen, and medical exam.
  • Previous experience in a customer service or call center role is a plus but not required.
