Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls for service with high accuracy and composure.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incidents using the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs of all incoming calls, incidents, and unit activity.
- Communicate effectively and clearly with field personnel, officers, and citizens to provide vital information.
- Monitor radio frequencies and CCTV systems to identify and respond to ongoing or developing situations.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and departmental policies during high-pressure situations.
- Assist in the training of new dispatchers and mentor junior staff as you advance in your career.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Kentucky Driverβs License with a good driving record.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, drug screen, and medical exam.
- Previous experience in a customer service or call center role is a plus but not required.
